Are You Toxic or Thankful in Tough Times?

Have you ever been around  someone who complained and made excuses about everything in their life?  How did you feel after being around that  person?  My guess is that you couldn’t  wait to be free of them.  No one in their  right mind enjoys being around a negative person.  They are TOXIC and they bring you down.

The person I would much rather  choose to be around is the individual that has a positive outlook on life.  They have an “Attitude of  Gratitude”.  This person makes the  choice to be joyful, even when times are tough.  They live by the principal of being “Thankful” rather than  ”Toxic”.

My mother taught me early in my  life how to develop an “Attitude of Gratitude” by following these  life principals:

1.       Don’t Worry.  Worrying doesn’t change anything, but the  acid level in your stomach.  It’s  counter-productive and a BIG waste of time.

2.       Pray about EVERYTHING.  Instead of  worrying, use your time for praying.

3.       Thank God in ALL Things.  It’s extremely  hard to be “Toxic” when I am giving Thanks to God.  Did you know that the healthiest human  emotion is not love, but gratitude.  Studies have shown that being grateful makes you more resistant to  stress and less susceptible to illness.

4.       Focus On The GOOD.  The best way to reduce the level of stress in  your life, is to change the way you think.  The way you think determines how you will feel.  And the way you feel determines the way you  will act.  This involves being  INTENTIONAL in making a conscious choice to FOCUS on the GOOD.

What are you worrying about?  Talk to God about your worries and  concerns.  Confide in a close friend that  will not judge you because you are struggling with some “Tough Stuff”.  Think about this:  If you had an “Attitude of  Gratitude” as much as you worried, how do you think your life would  change?  Yes, times are tough, but only  you and I can make the choice to turn our Lemons of Life into Lemonade.  No one else can do that for us.
